2018 Autumn II Term
What a super half-term Year 4 have had. We started this with a beautiful class Mass in church, which we shared with the baptism of a baby girl. We have had a special RE day, focusing on the Sikh religion and did some amazing research about the Gurus. Year 4 led a special assembly for the whole school and parents on our RE topic story - Jonah and the Whale. Our class novel this half-term was 'Short and Spooky'. We have all enjoyed reading lots of short spooky stories and developing our own spooky stories. Year 4 writing is really developing well! Our school held the council elections this half-term and we were very proud of all the children in Year 4 that applied to take part. Well done to those that were elected!

This term we have been learning about ancient Egypt. We have found out about the geography of Egypt and the importance of the River Nile. We have looked at timelines for the period and learnt about the mummification process.

We had a wonderful start to Advent. The children have made their own Christmas tree decorations for the tree in the hall. Year 4 joined with Year 3 for our Advent assembly for the rest of the school and parents. We told the story of both Mary and Joseph's experiences in the Nativity. We also took part in the amazing Christingle service with the rest of the school in church. Our oranges looked great and we enjoyed learning about all the symbols in the Christingle. We now look forward to a restful Christmas holidays, enjoyed with our family and friends at home.

2018 Autumn l Term

What a great start to Year 4 all the children have made! We welcomed the school year in wonderfully for everyone in church with our welcome Mass. We have also enjoyed learning about the Islamic new year, Al Hijrah. The 4th October is always important to our school - when we celebrate the Feast Day of our Saint - St. Francis of Assisi. We celebrated Mass in church and learnt a lot about his life!

This term we have been learning about ancient Egypt. We have found out about the geography of Egypt and the importance of the River Nile. We have looked at timelines for the period and learnt about the mummification process. We have learnt lots about the times by reading our class novel, 'Ma'at's Feather' and writing our own historical stories.

On our last day, before breaking up, we enjoyed our visit to Leeds City Museum. We looked around the galleries, saw a real ancient Egyptian Mummy called Nesyamun, mummified our own models and made amulets. We enjoyed taking out the model's brain through the nostrils the best! Well done Year 4!
